Meadowfoam (Cardamine pratensis) is a perennial plant in the Brassicaceae family. It is widespread in Europe and parts of Asia and often grows in moist meadows, on the banks of water bodies and in other moist habitats. Characteristics: Growth form: Meadowfoam typically reaches a height of 20 to 50 cm. The plant has an upright growth and often forms dense stands. Leaves: The leaves are pinnate or palmate and grow in a rosette on the ground and along the stem. They are green and have a serrated edge. Flowers: The flowers appear from April to June and are usually white or slightly pink in color. They consist of four petals arranged in a loose cluster. The flowers attract numerous insects, especially bees. Fruits: After flowering, elongated pods (pod fruits) develop that contain the seeds. Location and care:
Light: Meadowfoam prefers sunny to partially shaded locations.

Soil: It thrives best in moist, nutrient-rich soils that are well-drained. Waterlogging should be avoided.

Watering: Regular watering is important, especially during dry periods.

Use:
Ornamental plant: Meadowfoam is often used in natural gardens, wildflower meadows and as part of wet biotopes. It is well suited for planting riverbanks or moist perennial beds.

Edible plant: The young leaves can be used raw in salads or prepared as a vegetable. They have a slightly spicy taste, similar to cress.
