Properties The African eggplant (Solanum aethiopicum) belongs to the Solanaceae family (nightshade family) and is a heat-loving species. The fruits can be eaten both when they are still a little green and when they are ripe, but they must be cooked.
Culture Sowing the African eggplant is similar to Capsicum, from January to March in the greenhouse or in the home. From May onwards, the plants can be placed outside in a protected location.
