Soak seeds in milk for 24 hours before sowing. Sowing germination temperature at least 15°, but 25 - 26° is better. If necessary, put transparent plastic cups with two holes in the bottom over the seeds until two leaves have developed. Cucumbers do not tolerate temperatures below 5 - 8° and also not different temperatures during the day and night. Dark green seedlings with a compact growth and 2 - 3 leaves are best. Sow from April under glass in small pots or from 5 in the open air. Distance 30 cm x 150-200 cm. Soil temperature at least 12°. The roots must not be damaged when finally planting out. (distance 2 m). Plant deeper when planting out. Spread a black perforated film on the ground, this increases the soil temperature by 4°. Do not wet the leaves when watering, e.g. bury flower pots with holes in the side next to the plants and water them in the morning. The soil must not become silted, the roots need a lot of oxygen.
